Research Team from Universiti Sains Malaysia Regional Centre of Expertise ESD (RCE) Visited ICHCAP

On 3 July, Dr. Munirah Ghazali and nine researchers from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Regional Centre of Expertise ESD, visited ICHCAP to introduce the university and its activities and sought opportunities for future collaboration.

RCE Penang is a United Nations recognized Reginal Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) that works in partnership with key stakeholders to bring about change for sustainability at the community level.

RCE Penang is not a physical center or building, but a network of individuals, organizations and groups who are committed to building a more sustainable future through education and learning. Its network includes partners from the voluntary, public, education and business sectors, who work together to develop and implement innovative ESD projects and programs in Penang.

ICHCAP provided programs related to education in ICH safeguarding, which needs collaboration with schools and research institutes. In particular, ICHCAP encouraged in the university’s participation in the International Forum on ICH and Tertiary Education that will be held in July in cooperation with the UNESCO Bangkok Office.

Researchers from USM also expressed their interest in youth programs as well as ICH education programs and showed their intentions to join in ICHCAP’s programs in the future.
